Welcome to game day Mother F@#$ers!
Welcome to the Bo Pelini era of Nebraska football. Pundits expect the Nebraska tradition, which has eluded the University for the last 4 years to return. The Offense remains the same high powered, scoring machine that we saw under Quarterback Joe Ganz during the last 4 games in 2007.
So what’s missing? You’ve got the fans rejuvenated, the coaches coaching, the players buying in…when else is there?
Well, maybe one of the most storied traditions. The “Blackshirts”. The once proud tradition the signified a true badass in college football; the once great symbol of heart, love, intelligence, and ferocity. So where are they now? Coach Pelini has publicly been reluctant to handout the coveted jerseys until a player deserves them. When asked why he has not handed them out Pelini said ""What's a Blackshirt mean if it's just a symbol that you haven't earned? Everybody wants to rush this thing. It's the same thing when I was here the first time. I don't see the point in it if you just hand them out to hand them out."
After last years abysmal defensive performance (which is mostly contributed to a terrible coaching staff and a piss-poor middle linebacker) I agree with the coach…these players need to earn the tradition.
Ghram out!
