Suh for Heisman and this time we mean it

In a year that's seen our beloved Huskers lose three games by a total of four (4) points, maybe...just maybe there is a silver lining. Ndamukong Suh is going to the Heisman Award ceremony. Let us rejoice. But is it so crazy to think that he could actually win it?

The Heisman Trophy is awarded to the best player in college football, so why not Suh?

It's not just that he helped in reviving a legendary football program, while restoring the faith in an entire state. And it's not that he kept his team in games when they turned the ball over eight times or couldn't score. You see, it's more about the bigger picture.

Colt McCoy plays quarterback for a great Texas team. How boring is that? We are smack dab in the middle of a period in time where the power of defense has faded. Teams like Boise State and TCU are throwing up basketball-like scores and the QB in Houston is throwing 75 passes a game. Things have definitely changed since the 90s.

Suh is the underdog, he's rogue and he deserves it. While holding Texas to season lows on offense in several areas was a big story line from this past Saturday, I don't think it's the biggest.

Through the defensive side of the game, Suh took a Nebraska team with no offense to within one second of victory against a team playing for the national championship with a Heisman frontrunner as it's quarterback.

Defense can win championships once again.
