Nebraska senior linebacker Cody Glenn has been suspended indefinitely from the team. Husker head coach Bo Pelini made the announcement in a statement, saying the suspension is based on a violation of team rules.
According to the statement, Pelini has said that he, the remainder of the coaching staff and players will have no further comment on this matter.
“I have no clue. I just heard about it,” Glenn’s high school coach, Wayne Mahaffey, told the Journal Star. “I have no clue what’s going on. I wish I did. I’m puzzled by it.”
Glenn’s name has not shown on any recent city or campus arrest reports. The native of Rusk, Texas, spent three years as a running back before switching in the spring to linebacker. He impressed coaches quickly and moved into a starting role at the WILL linebacker spot.
Through 10 games, he is third on the team in tackles with 51 and has six tackles for loss, four pass breakups and four quarterback hurries. Glenn sat out one game this season because of injury against Texas Tech. In his place, walk-on freshman Matt Holt played the majority of the snaps as the only linebacker in NU’s dime package.
The Huskers are already thin at linebacker going into this week’s game against Kansas State with junior Phillip Dillard questionable because of an ankle injury.
Pelini recently said at this point in the season he won’t burn any redshirts of true freshmen like linebacker Will Compton.
